Ok, Poolie. I googled my nickname from high school and here's the photo.

Whew! Glad that nickname is graveyard dead.
I have no idea how it got started or who actually started it. I still have friends from high school that'll call me Melvin once in awhile. Of course, they pronounce it "Meh-vin". The "L" is silent in Mississippi. heh.
My best friend's nickname was Clem. Not short for Clementine. Just plain old Clem. That was pronounced "Clee-umm". Every single word has at least two syllables in Mississippi.
Then there was Pearl. Yep, you guessed it. That was pronounced "Purr-ull". His middle name was Purle. (Old family name?) We refused to call him Johnny. Everyone still calls him Pearl to this day.
This was fun!
