Here we go again

Here we go again.

The pink square is where I live.

Katrina was a "once every 396 years" hurricane. This one is a strong one too.

Hubby is leaving in a bit to work on opening the contra-flow so that both lanes of traffic on the interstate head north. I may or may not see him tomorrow. It depends on the traffic and how fast the hurricane is moving.

I hope we are better prepared for this hurricane. I feel like I've really covered all the bases (ice, water, canned foods, batteries, 1st aid kit, radio, scanner etc). The madnez in the grocery stores began on Thursday. Almost everything is sold out. Lowe's (sorry Beanie, we don't have a Depot) is out of batteries, generators, plywood and other stuff.

Gas prices have gone up 25 cents a gallon and is expected to rise again. Lines are long at some stations and not too bad at others. So far, none of the stations have run out of gas that I know of.

Kids are excited about the storm. They remember being out of school for 2 weeks during Katrina. Parents have the look of dread on their faces. I know that look well. I've seen it in my mirror the last 3 days.

We haven't moved the boat yet. We plan on moving it to an open parking lot away from trees and power lines. If not, C'est la vie.

Don't know how bad this one will be. I'm sure we'll get a lot of wind and rain at the very least. Hopefully, Gustav will die down in the gulf and become a nice little end of summer shower.

Lizzzy and Loki...take care and travel safely.
