Festival rained out

April 29, 2008 at 6:01 a.m.

The Iron Horse festival this past weekend was pretty much rained out. It started out a nice and warm day followed by thunderstorms in the late afternoon.

We met up with our friends around 1:30 p.m. We wandered around 15 or 20 booths of arts and trash. The airbrushed t-shirt booth seemed to be raking in the money. The pottery booth was okay but way too expensive for someone just starting to sling clay. The lady said she'd only been doing pottery for about 6 months. I found several pieces that intrigued me a little; a fruit bowl for $125 and an almost triangular shaped plate (maybe it was her interpretation of a leaf?) for $175. I can live without them. For $200, I'll have to. Heh.

After looking over the arts-n-crafts, we headed over to the entertainment and food vending area. Some man was singing his heart out...to nobody. No one was there except us and we just strolled on by. Hubby, son and I got a funnel cake and some lemonade and found a curb to sit on. Miss Debbie and the Postman found something to eat and drink and joined us on the curb. We soaked up the hazy sun and talked for awhile.

Hubby pointed up to a thundercloud that was making its way toward us. We decided that we'd leave and meet back at the festival around 7:30 for the Restless Heart (who are they??) concert and the fireworks after the show. We had no idea that the rain would set in and cancel everything, but it sure did. It rained buckets.

We barely made it home before the rain started. A few minutes later, our friends showed up at our house. They were soaked. Miss Debbie hadn't brought anymore clothes with her so she asked Mr. Postman to drop her off so I could dry her clothes for her while he rushed home to change.

I tossed her clothes in the dryer and found her a robe to put on. She hid out in our bedroom while her clothes dried. (She's so modest!)

Aacckkk! I worked that morning and didn't go grocery shopping after work like I usually do. We had planned on eating at the festival for dinner that night. We didn't have a thing to eat except sandwich stuff and chips that I keep around all the time.

Hubby suggested that we order a pizza and some buffalo wings and watch a movie on pay-per-view. Fine with me! Miss Debbie said that sounded good to her too. We waited until Mr. Postman got back before placing the order. Good thing we did! He arrived with delicious, sloppy roast beef po-boys, french fries and a cake. I like that in a man. Debbie should marry him for that alone. Roast beef po-boys are her favorite.

We sat around and ate and talked. The satellite was going in and out because of the rain so we decided not to watch a pay-per-view movie. Son asked if we wanted to watch one of his movies on the dvd.

Shrek! Perfect movie. Debbie and Mr. Postman had never seen it before. She thought it was just a kid's movie. Mr. Postman had never heard of it. Heh.

My dad and mom showed up right before the movie started. Son and I shared our po-boys with them. They stayed and watched the movie with us. Dad retired from the post office so he and Mr. Postman had a lot to talk about. Mom and Debbie had a lot to catch up on too. They hadn't seen each other in a while.

After the movie, I could tell that Mr. Postman wanted some "alone" time with Debbie. I mentioned that it had finally quit raining. Debbie wondered if the concert would still go on. Hubby had been listening to his police scanner off and on and told her that the concert and fireworks had been cancelled.

Mr. Postman asked her if she wanted to go get her car while the rain had stopped. They left...and didn't come back. I called her early Sunday morning before she went to church to see why she didn't come back to my house. She said that she and Mr. Postman talked until 4 that morning and that she'd just made it home!

Bow chicka bow bow!

I asked her if she hugged and kissed him. She got so choked up, she couldn't even talk. I betcha her face was red too. Gosh, I hope she kissed him. I would have kissed him for a roast beef po-boy. Heck, hubby would have kissed him for that.

Here's some photos of my flowers that I took Sunday morning with my new camera. I think I love this camera.
