I talked to SB again late yesterday afternoon. He called because he had made a conscious decision. He wanted his hair cut off.
Sooooo, I went to his house and picked him up and we went to the shop. On the way to the shop he told me that he has got to be in control. He said he was the one that would decide when his hair would go, not the cancer.
I pulled his hair into a ponytail and let him make the first cut. I finished his haircut and I must say, it looks really really good!
We put the ponytail in a big envelope and addressed it to Locks of Love. They make wigs for children with cancer.
We didn't cry. I almost teared up a time or two but not him. He is so determined to whip this cancer's butt.
I asked him if he felt like company for awhile. I told him I had a pot roast in the crockpot with all the trimmings. He was tired. Very tired. But he decided that he'd spend some time with us. He wanted to hang out somewhere other than home since he's been cooped up there for awhile.
We enjoyed a great meal and his company. His mom phoned us twice to ask if he was ok. After the second call, he decided that he better get home.
On the way home, I asked him if he wanted or needed anything. He said he'd read about carrot juice and how it helps with chemo. I'd read about that a long time ago too.
I stopped by the grocery and they didn't have any pure carrot juice but I did find some V8 fusion. I got him the Pomegranate Blueberry because I know he loves pomegranate juice. This has PURPLE carrots listed as an ingredient. I also got him the Strawberry Banana because it's STRAWBERRY BANANA! Plus it also included carrot juice. I ended up getting him 6 of each.
After we got to his parent's house, we put a couple of the juices in the fridge. We said our good nights while his Mom gave his hair a double take. She liked his haircut.
I remembered on the way home that one of my customers stocks grocery stores with specialty products. I gave him a call to ask about pure carrot juice. He said he does stock it at some stores in Louisiana. He's scheduled to get his hair cut on Saturday. He said he'd be glad to donate a case of the juice when he comes. SCORE!
When I got home, hubby had been researching stuff on the internet. He told me that SB needs to start drinking carrot juice NOW! I laughed and told him that we stopped at the store on the way to his house.
