I just heard from SB an hour or so ago. The hospital is going to provide him with housing when he starts his treatments. This is great news and we all feel as if a burden has been lifted.
Today he is seeing another doctor to set up his radiation treatments. He is also going to see a surgeon to set up his surgery for a temporary colostomy. The doctor mentioned that he'd like to "tack things up and out of the way" before SB starts radiation to prevent some important stuff from being nuked.
He will undergo chemotherapy, too. That's the main reason he needed somewhere to stay. He'll have 2 treatments a week and will have to stay overnight in the hospital for each of those treatments. He'll need time to rest up between treatments. Looks like he'll be able to come home on weekends...if he's rested enough.
Things are falling right into place. He's keeping a wonderful attitude. I mentioned that several people wanted to donate money to help out.
This is what he's requested. Right now, he wants prayers sent up on his behalf. He said that would help him more than money right now. He said when he licks this cancer he will be able to make the money. He thinks he can manage right now with his savings account, but if he feels he needs the extra help, he'll let us know.
That's my SB. The brave one. The one who spits in the eye of fear.
